Job Summary:
We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Vice President – Credit Officer to join our Financial Institutions Credit Risk team. In this critical role, you will take ownership of credit assessments, ongoing portfolio monitoring, and risk management for a diverse portfolio of bank, non-bank, and specialty finance counterparties.
You will be responsible for conducting deep credit due diligence, preparing well-articulated credit recommendations, and partnering with Relationship Managers and senior risk officers to support the growth of client relationships—while ensuring sound credit risk principles are applied. This is a hands-on role with direct exposure to complex institutions and products, offering an exciting opportunity for professionals looking to build their credit expertise in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Credit Assessment & Analysis:
- Conduct in-depth analysis of new credit requests, renewals, credit changes, and annual reviews for Financial Institutions clients
- Prepare comprehensive credit proposals that assess counterparty strength, credit structure, collateral, and industry outlook
- Present credit findings and recommendations to Relationship Managers, Credit Committees, and senior stakeholders
- Maintain complete, accurate, and up-to-date credit files with supporting documentation and approval records
- Collaborate with front-office teams to ensure credit structures align with risk appetite and business strategy
Portfolio Monitoring & Maintenance:
- Monitor existing credit exposures and client performance to identify early signs of deterioration or emerging risks
- Perform timely annual reviews and interim updates based on trigger events or changes in creditworthiness
- Track and report portfolio metrics, including credit limits, utilization, CRR (Credit Risk Rating), and risk appetite adherence
- Participate in the remediation of credit issues, including amendments, covenant breaches, or regulatory findings
