The Madison Mallards and Night Mares are seeking an energetic and organized candidate to join the team as a Retail Operations Manager. This position will lead the day-to-day operations of the merchandise department, as well as support efforts in email/social media marketing, product planning, e-commerce website management, and oversee seasonal merchandise staff.
Responsibilities:

Retail/Marketing Operations

  • Manage the day to day of the Mallards and Night Mares retail operations, including in-person and online stores.
  • Assist in creation and implementation of retail sales strategies to drive revenue and achieve sales targets.
  • Maintain an attractive and organized retail space that aligns with the Mallards’ and Night Mares brand.
  • Ensure accurate and efficient point-of-sale (POS) operations utilizing Square.
  • Manage website, order fulfillment, and sales tracking via e-commerce shop.
  • Work both in groups and independently to create visual merchandising arrangements in store.
  • Collaborate with other full-time staff and interns on special events, projects, and game days.
  • Upkeep the overall store cleanliness, brand standards, and store checklist.
  • Create and capture engaging content for social media.
  • Be an extension of the marketing team by sending emails, creating graphics, and brainstorming ideas to be sold in the store.
  • Work directly with preferred vendors provided by the Mallards and Night Mares staff.
  • Purchase all additional promotional items throughout the entire organization.

Inventory Management

  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with vendors to ensure adequate stock of merchandise.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Identify trends in product performance and adjust purchasing or promotions accordingly.
  • Support buying team in day-to-day inventory tracking.

Team Leadership

  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise a team of seasonal retail staff.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and performance evaluations to retail employees.
  • Assist with training staff in sales strategies, customer service, POS usage, and game day roles.

Customer Experience

  • Ensure fans enjoy a friendly, engaging, and efficient shopping experience.
  • Resolve customer complaints and issues promptly and professionally both in person and via email.
  • Utilize customer feedback to improve retail operations and offerings.
  • Ensure customers receive the highest level of customer service each time they shop.

Reporting and Analysis

  • Work with retail team to track performance metrics, such as sales, profit margins, and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop reports for the Lead Buyer and General Manager to help provide actionable insights.
  • Recommend new initiatives to enhance retail profitability and engagement.
  • Identify key trends/consumers of the store.

The Mallards are one of the largest and most successful summer collegiate baseball teams in the nation attracting more than 210,000 fans each summer. The Night Mares debuted in 2024 as an inaugural Northwoods League Softball team. In just one year, they became the highest attended summer collegiate softball team and look to continue to grow in year two.
