Job Description:
The Madison Mallards/Night Mares are seeking full-time qualified individuals to assist in the management of game day operations throughout the ballpark. The Stadium and Team Operations Intern will assist in pre-season and game day set-up of the ballpark, daily field preparation and maintenance, clubhouse management, overseeing part-time staff, and have a large role in the overall fan experience at Mallards/Night Mares games under the supervision of the Director of Operations.
Operations Intern Duties Include:
The Madison Mallards/Night Mares are seeking full-time qualified individuals to assist in the management of game day operations throughout the ballpark. The Stadium and Team Operations Intern will assist in pre-season and game day set-up of the ballpark, daily field preparation and maintenance, clubhouse management, overseeing part-time staff, and have a large role in the overall fan experience at Mallards/Night Mares games under the supervision of the Director of Operations.
Operations Intern Duties Include:
- Ensuring that all aspects of stadium operations are completed in a timely manner
- Assist in prepping the baseball/softball field before and after games, and all special events
- Managing part-time usher staff on game days
- Scheduling of usher employees for game days
- Hands on role with minimal desk work
- Preparing the ballpark for Opening Day/home games
- Assist in arranging pre/post-game meals for Home and Visiting teams
Required Skills:
- Be capable of taking direction in completing assigned tasks under the Director of Operations
- Basic knowledge of baseball/softball field preparation is preferred, but not required
- Some knowledge or experience working with tools
- Ability to think on one's feet and problem solve
- Excellent communication skills
- Hard working individuals who can adapt to different situations in a high-stress environment
- Ability to lift up to 40lbs
- Adapting to last minute changes with a positive attitude
- Willingness to work outdoors, rain or shine
About the Madison Mallards & Madison Night Mares:
The Mallards are one of the largest and most successful summer collegiate baseball teams in the nation attracting more than 200,000 fans each summer. The Night Mares debuted in 2024 as an inaugural Northwoods League Softball team. In just one year, they became the highest attended summer collegiate softball team and look to continue to grow in year two. The Mallards & Night Mares annually hire more than 20 intern positions for the season, who may also have the opportunity to gain experience at other Madison based teams & events throughout the summer. Many of our full-time staff completed an internship or seasonal position with us prior to their full-time employment. Former interns have gone on to work for the Carolina Panthers, Milwaukee Brewers, Arizona Diamondbacks, Green Bay Packers, and various minor league and summer collegiate league teams across the nation.
It is recommended, but not required, for our internships to go towards college credits. All Interns will be required to participate in weekly sports management workshops and external community baseball clinics.
