Youth Resource Center (YRC) - Program Leader - Summer 2024
MSCR or Madison School & Community Recreation is Madison’s public recreation provider. We offer everything you would find in your typical community rec department in an accessible, inclusive setting. Programs include swimming, arts & enrichment, adult & 50 fitness, sport leagues, outdoor pursuits and more. As a department of the Madison Metropolitan School District(MMSD), we also provide afterschool and summer programming in Madison elementary, middle and high schools.
Program Description:
MSCR offers the Youth Resource Centers (YRC) to students attending MMSD Summer Semester in the morning. The program operates Monday through Friday from 12:00-4:00pm and provides participants with a variety of recreational and enrichment activities, such as outdoor activities including kayaking, swimming, high ropes, science, art, music, drama, etc. as well as weekly field trips.
Job Description & Duties:
Supervise, plan and facilitate recreation and enrichment activities for Middle School youth both inside school buildings and outdoors, including but not limited to, kayaking, sports, swimming, nature exploration, weekly fieldtrips, science, crafts, music, drama, ect. Program leaders are responsible for enforcing school rules and policies and creating a welcoming, positive, safe environment for students. Other duties as assigned.
Program Dates: 06/10/2024-7/26/2024
Work Location: Sherman Middle, Whitehorse Middle, Wright Middle, Gillespie Middle.
Hours/week: 25-30 hours per week.
Work hours: 11:30am-4:30pm
Application Deadline: Open until filled.
Payrate: 15.00 - 15.00 /hour
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to lead middle school aged youth from diverse backgrounds in a variety of engaging activities
- Ability to interact and communicate with youth in a positive and professional manner.
- Ability to work as a team
- Ability to arrive at work on-time for all scheduled shifts.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual in Spanish or Hmong.
- CPR/First Aid Certification.
- Lifeguard certification.
