About The Role
The Executive Director, U.S. Value and Access is responsible for developing and executing the U.S. market access strategy for Madrigal Pharmaceuticals, focusing on therapies for nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). This role will ensure optimal payer coverage, reimbursement, pricing, and patient access while also supporting trade and distribution strategy to facilitate seamless product availability.
As a key leader in the organization, the Executive Director will work cross-functionally across market access, trade, pricing, reimbursement, HEOR and payer engagement, ensuring a comprehensive approach to patient access and commercial success. This role will also engage with senior leadership, external payers, specialty pharmacy partners, and distributors to create an integrated approach to market access and trade operations.

- Oversee payer account management strategies, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and patient access priorities.
- Analyze and respond to healthcare policy changes affecting reimbursement, pricing, and access in the NASH market.
- Guide the overall implementation of U.S. pricing strategies, ensuring alignment with payer expectations, patient affordability, and company revenue objectives.
- Develop and oversee innovative contracting models, including value-based agreements and outcomes-driven pricing.
- Support Medicaid rebate and government pricing strategies, ensuring compliance with CMS and regulatory policies.
- Work cross-functionally to support the development of financial models that guide contracting and reimbursement decisions.
- Collaborate with Trade and Distribution teams to support strategies that ensure efficient product access through specialty pharmacies (SPs, and distributors.
- Partner with Commercial, Trade, and Patient Services teams to align distribution channels with market access goals.
- Assist in engagement with specialty pharmacies (SPs), and integrated delivery networks (IDNs) to enhance access and affordability.
- Ensure distribution logistics align with reimbursement pathways, minimizing disruptions in patient access.

- Create and oversee payer-focused resources, including economic models, AMCP dossiers, and budget impact assessments.
- Lead U.S. market access launch readiness, ensuring payer, pricing, and trade strategies are aligned.
- Oversee field market access strategy, ensuring teams have the tools, messaging, and payer engagement resources needed for success.
- Develop and implement training programs for market access teams to effectively communicate value propositions to payers and channel partners.
- Ensure market access and trade strategies align with all legal, regulatory, and corporate compliance policies.
- Work with pricing to ensure compliance with Medicaid pricing, government contracting, and state regulations related to reimbursement and patient access.

- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MPH, PharmD, or similar) preferred.
- Minimum 12 years of pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience, with at least 7 years in market access, trade, or payer strategy.
- Prior experience in specialty therapeutic areas, particularly metabolic diseases or NASH, is strongly preferred.
