Key Responsibilities:
Client Communication: Act as a primary point of contact for clients, responding to inquiries, scheduling appointments, and providing updates on case status.
Document Drafting: Prepare various legal documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives, ensuring they comply with state and federal regulations.
Probate Assistance: Assist with the probate process, including preparing and filing necessary court documents, notifying beneficiaries, and tracking deadlines.
Asset Inventory: Help clients and attorneys compile an inventory of assets and liabilities for estate planning and probate purposes.
Research: Conduct legal research on relevant statutes, regulations, and case law to support attorneys in building strong legal arguments and providing accurate advice to clients.
Record Keeping: Maintain organized and up-to-date client files, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with record-keeping regulations.
Court Filings: Prepare and file documents with the appropriate courts and government agencies, following established procedures and deadlines.
Notary Services: Serve as a notary public when necessary to authenticate legal documents.
Billing and Accounting: Assist with billing clients for legal services, tracking billable hours, and managing financial records related to trust and estate matters.
Continuing Education: Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations related to trusts and estates, attending relevant workshops or seminars to enhance knowledge and skills.
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in paralegal studies, legal studies, or a related field, or applicants with 5 years of experience with probate
Strong knowledge of trusts, estates, probate law, and relevant legal procedures.
Proficiency in legal research, document preparation, and case management software.
Must be proficient with Word, PowerPoint and preferably some excel.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
Ethical and discreet, maintaining client confidentiality at all times.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $37,400.00 - $52,000.00 per year
