We are looking for a skilled & passionate Social Media Manager with proven experience in consumer goods (beauty preferred) to join our marketing team. As our Social Media Manager for Kristen Ess, you are responsible for defining strategies and building annual social marketing plans by understanding the consumer’s needs, customer and competitive landscape, social media metrics and market dynamics. This role will work closely with our retailer and key customer teams to ensure success and growth across the brand. This role is for someone who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment with the ability to both work independently as well as collaboratively with key cross-functional stakeholders and senior leaders in the company.
The Social Media Manager will report to the Director, Brand Management.
This role is based in NYC and you will be expected in office 3 days a week, at minimum.
Responsibilities
$100K/yr - $110K/yr. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This position is eligible for participation in a discretionary bonus plan based on individual and company performance.

Responsibilities
- Lead the development of social strategy in line with brand priorities and objectives across all owned, earned and paid efforts.
- Crafting and executing creative social media marketing plans tailored by platform (including TikTok, Meta, Pinterest, YouTube and emerging platforms) that layer into the larger brand strategy
- Oversee the content calendar creation and on-time execution of social campaigns and tactics, delivering performance analysis to inform channel and creative optimization
- Lead and implement community engagement through proactive and reactive communications
- Manage collaboration and go-to-market processes with key cross-functional partners, and external agencies, fostering an end-to-end process with robust project management skills
- Obsess over product narratives, marketing launches, and social strategies to ensure a culturally relevant, transformative, consumer-centric approach in all marketing efforts
- The ideal candidate will be forward-thinking, creative, attuned to the ever-evolving trends across social and deeply connected to consumer trends and cultural movements that resonate with our audience
- Foster a collaborative, highly creative, and progressive approach that encourages the adoption of new frameworks, templates, and ways of working
- Manage direct report to support with strategy development and execution for all of Kristin Ess Hair social
- 6 years of experience leading and executing across social media and brand content strategies
- Experience in a consumer facing brand (including agency experience, retail, or related industry); Beauty experience preferred, but not required.
- Advanced marketing knowledge of all major social platforms (Meta, TikTok, Pinterest YouTube), including their products, user behaviors, and commerce capabilities
- Proven experience growing and maintaining brands on social with close ties to brand marketing strategy
- Strong mix of creative and analytical thinking; equally grounded in insights, objectives, and KPIs while driving strong creative point of view and best practices
- Finger on the pulse of culture – obsessed with media landscape and cultural zeitgeist
- Excellent communication skills, persuasive and concise verbal, and written storytelling that can inspire & excite creatives cross functionals to generate and execute big innovative ideas
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment; ability to pivot adapt plans to changes in the market or with shifts to the brand’s objectives
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational and communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities at once
