Magee Plastics Company, a premier manufacturer of thermoplastics and composites for the airline, rail, and other industries, is currently hiring for a Industrial Painter position. This position is responsible for coating and painting surfaces of parts primarily using a spray gun. Individual must be able to select and mix coating material and coat areas inaccessible to a hand sprayer by using a brush or roller. This position also requires the ability to monitor and verify quality of coatings in accordance with specification(s) or other control procedures.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Setup and operate machines that paint or coat plastic parts or products
- Selects and mixes the paint or coating needed for the job according to specifications
- Prepares surface to be coated by scuffing, sanding, sandblasting, or cleaning to prevent dust (FOD) from being trapped under the paint
- Covers any portions of the product with tape and paper to prevent the paint or coating from contacting areas not intended to be coated
- Uses varied techniques to apply paint or coating while following product and / or customer specifications
- Determines the required flow of paint to produce the required quality of the applied coating
- Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas.
- Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE), to include respirator, eye protection, gloves, etc.
- Observe safety rules and regulations
Qualifications:
- Attention to detail.
- Promptness and reliability.
- Ability to read, write legibly, speak and understand english.
- Ability to obtain medical clearance in order to wear OSHA-approved half-face respirator
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to bend, stoop, or crouch at times in order to reach various areas of product
- Basic computer skills.
- Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
- Capable of performing basic data entry.
- Ability to read and follow procedures.
- Skill at hand work and associated machinery.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team setting.
- Possess acceptable vision (with corrective lenses, as appropriate).
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
