Accounting Manager
In this newly-created role, you will report directly to the VP Finance, and serve as one of the lead point people on all accounting-related issues. This is very much a "hands on" accounting role, but you will also oversee a Staff Accountant responsible for general ledger accounting, A / P, and A / R.
This is a hybrid role that requires some in-person work in our Denver, CO office, ideally 3 days / week.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the accounting function. Be the primary owner of accounting & financial reporting
- Supervise and coordinate the general ledger, month-end close and internal reporting process, including ownership of ongoing reconciliations, roll-forwards, schedules, etc.
- Research technical accounting matters and prepare accounting memos to support accounting positions (for example, Revenue recognition)
- Be a joint owner of general ledger system (currently Quickbooks). Assist in any future systems enhancement, implementations, or software migration
- Monitor and analyze monthly / quarterly operating results. Prepare outputs for internal teams
- Oversee and manage the Staff Accountant's work.
- Assist VP Finance with preparation of annual audits
- Oversee tax compliance (state & local, sales tax, VAT, etc.) and tax system management (currently Avalara)
- Respond to inquiries from other company-wide managers regarding the financial results and special reporting requests
- Develop and maintain internal controls procedures across all accounting systems
- Support any other ad-hoc internal financial analyses
- Play an active role in other aspects of finance & accounting : banking / treasury, risk / insurance, financing, tax, financial planning, investor relations, etc.
- Assist in development and implementation of new accounting processes or procedures
- Be able to supervise a growing team in the future and ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner
