Role Summary

Magna New Mobility is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Mechanical Engineer to join our cutting-edge New Mobility group in Lowell, Massachusetts. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the mechanical development of autonomous mobile robotics (AMR) projects, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to design, test, and launch next-generation robotic solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Mechanical System Design : Develop mechanical architectures, sub-system requirements, and component designs for AMR / robotic systems.
• Modeling & Documentation : Create 3D models, 2D drawings, and electromechanical interface documentation, including DFMEA analysis, GD&T and tolerance stack analysis.
• Structural & Thermal Analysis : Apply first-order and CAE techniques to evaluate structural integrity, vibration, thermal performance, and material selection.
• Electromechanical Integration : Design and integrate mechanical components, electromechanical actuators, PCBAs, and sensors (e.g., LiDAR, cameras).
• Prototyping & Testing : Build, modify, and validate prototype samples, as well as test mechanical requirements at both the component and assembly level.
• Manufacturing & Production Support : Ensure designs are optimized for low to high-volume manufacturing and support production ramp-up.
• Test Equipment & Fixture Development : Assist in fabricating test setups for engineering and validation purposes.
