Position Overview: The Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Trainee is a hands-on position which performs a wide range of functions to support the day-to-day throughput of the radiography department. NDT Trainees are held to the company’s highest standard of ethics, professionalism, and dependability. We currently perform Fluorescent Penetrant, Magnetic Particle and X-ray inspections.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
· Perform tasks under the direction of certified Level II inspectors, while gaining experience and acquiring knowledge of customer specifications and inspection requirements.
· Unpack parts, document the as-received condition, and prepare orders for inspection using established techniques.
· Perform final visual inspection, prepare, and package parts in accordance with customer requirements upon the completion of processing.
· Maintain proper housekeeping while adhering to applicable chemical, environmental, and safety procedures.
· Complete applicable paperwork for orders in-process, and track labor time using MIL's internal software.
· Provide cross functional support to other departments within the NDT group as needed.
· Trainees are expected to participate in NDT training programs, document hours of experience, and take certification exams as required to advance their level of certification.
· Take part in company-wide training and continuous improvement opportunities toward quality assurance initiatives, company objectives, and peripheral projects.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Special attention shall be given to safety procedures and compliance shall be maintained at all times.
• Must be a quality focused, detail-oriented, organized, self-starting individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritize and efficiently complete tasks with consistency and accuracy.
• The NDT inspection is a controlled process, therefore attention to detail and care in handling customer parts and test equipment is required.
• Must have the skills to navigate Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Understand MIL's turnaround schedule and align orders to meet customer demands.
• Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel within the organization.
Minimum Job Requirements:
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• A basic understanding of NDT processing, theory, and industry standards is preferred, but not required.
• Experience in a quality, manufacturing or production environment is preferred.
• Must be physically capable of standing for extended periods of time and have the strength to handle parts ranging in size and weight.
• Individual must be authorized to work in the U.S. under one of the following criteria: 1. A citizen of the United States, 2. A lawful permanent resident, 3. A non-citizen National of the United States.
Reports: NDT Trainee personnel report directly to the NDT Supervisor, and interface with MIL’s Responsible Level III and the NDT Manager for additional guidance.
Hours: This is a 1st shift position. NDT Trainees are required to maintain a flexible schedule to support the department in times of increased demand.
