Staff Technical Program Manager, Guest & Host Tech Platform (contract) Airbnb’s mission is to create a world where anyone can belong anywhere. As we grow to achieve this mission, we’re looking to add a seasoned technical, hands-on, and mission-driven Technical Program Manager (TPM) to the Guest and Host Tech team. We’re looking for someone to partner with engineering, design, product and cross functional teams to oversee and deliver flagship customer facing features. Specifically, this person will support the Search and Personalization team, which focuses on enhancing Airbnb’s guest journey—from trip planning (Explore, Search) to upcoming, on-trip, and past trip experiences. Key product surfaces include: onboarding & search (help guests discover the best Airbnb has to offer, express & refine their travel needs, find places to stay & things to do), wishlists (helping guests collect, organize, and collaborate on stays and activities), on-trip experiences (enhancing guest experiences once travel begins), and merchandising systems (working across relevance, data, knowledge graph, product, operations, and design to optimize discovery and personalization).
About Guest and Host Tech at Airbnb Guest and Host Tech is responsible for the end-to-end guest and hosting experience. We’re responsible for a range of product surface areas including the homepage, search, booking, planning, and pre-trip / on-trip/ post-trip experience. We’re also working on everything from launching new product verticals from the ground up to perfecting the existing Guest and Host journey, as well as supporting existing verticals around individual Homes, Experiences, multiple Homes, and Hotels on the platform. Expected Outcomes
Responsibilities:
● Partner with cross-functional teams to manage engineering deliverables of major product launches from conceptualization, product build, and validation to launch.
● Manage effective communications to leadership and across teams to ensure accountability and timeline management. ● Ensure executives have sufficient visibility into status, risks, blockers, and decisions.
● Understand best practices, drive for process improvements, and find new ways of operating, with a focus on simplification and productivity.
● Responsible for proactive identification of technical dependencies, and ensuring dependencies are tracked and managed in project plan.
● Proactive identification and quantification of risks. Spearhead development of mitigation plans with cross functional teams.
● Defining and aligning on success criteria. Regularly assess risks and opportunities. Preferred Qualifications ● Experience leading product centric engineering teams with large number of stakeholders and cross-functional teams to deliver high quality and complex software solutions within a specific target timeframe.
Requirements:
● Demonstrated good product sense and sound judgement on eng complexity.
● Ability to influence teams and stakeholders outside of engineering to align on critical path milestones that allow engineering to deliver projects in high quality and on time.
● Experience with running parallel tracks with high visibility with leadership and demonstrated ability to run projects independently and adapt ways of working based on the situation.
● Excellent written and oral technical and business communication. Experience presenting to C-level executives.
● Demonstrated ability to work through ambiguity to detailed solutions. You can take a vague problem, frame the challenge, identify a path forward, and take it to the finish-line.
● Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with engineering managers and directors and advocate for things on their behalf.
● Exhibit knowledge of Jira, Asana or other equivalent task management tooling.
● BA/BS degree, 10 years technical project management experience or relevant experience.

Pay Rate Range: $60-$71/hour.
