What are the responsibilities and job description for the Switchboard Operator position at Magnolia Manor?
Purpose of the Job
The primary purpose of this position is to perform switchboard functions and clerical support in an efficient manner in accordance with established procedures, and as directed by your supervisor. As Switchboard Operator / Receptionist, the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability are delegated as necessary for carrying out all assigned duties.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Must have High School Diploma or its equivalent.
- One year of medical office or general office administrative experience preferred.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
- Should know, or possess the ability to learn, to answer and operate a multi-line phone system.
EXPECTATIONS:
- Must possess the ability to defuse a difficult situation.
- Must be able to greet patients, residents, family members, and guests warmly and with a pleasant disposition.
- Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with other personnel.
- May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.

- Works in office areas as well as throughout the facility and its premises.

- Schedule will not be a standard “9a-5p” workday. Scheduled hours will vary and all employees are required to work a weekend rotation.
Other:
- Subject to frequent interruptions.
- Must be flexible in willingness and ability to work on any unit and/or shift needed to meet the requirements of Magnolia Manor residents.
- Subject to call-back during any emergency conditions (i.e., severe weather, evacuation, natural disaster, etc.).
- Must be without conviction of any criminal offense that would prohibit employment in a nursing facility or exclusion from participation in any Federal health care programs.
