Job Summary:
The eBike Mechanic and Sales Associate is responsible within our Encinitas retail store with the building, servicing and informing of Magnum Bikes, as well as responsible for assisting all retail customers at this location.
The person in this role will be in charge of assembling and maintaining bikes to ensure safety standards and performance, along with providing and guiding customers through maintaining and using Magnum Bikes.
This person is also in charge of guiding customers through the shopping process, from the initial greeting to the final purchase.
By providing insight and support, you’ll help strengthen our customer relationships and convert new patrons into repeat shoppers.
The person in this position will report directly to the General Manager at the Encinitas retail store.
Compensation:
The pay range for this position is $19-24/h 3% sales commission (according to Schedule A)
Qualifications:
Previous experience in sales, preferably in the retail or cycling industry.
Proven experience as an eBike mechanic preferred.
Strong knowledge of eBike electrical and mechanical systems.
Exceptional problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Customer-oriented with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while meeting sales targets.
Familiarity with POS systems and basic computer skills.
Passion for sustainable transportation and a good understanding of e-bike technology.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Customer Service & Interaction:
Greet, serve, and assist customers in a professional and courteous manner.
Provide knowledgeable and enthusiastic assistance to customers interested in e-bikes.
Engage in conversations with store visitors to understand their needs, preferences and requirements.
Educate customers about product features and benefits.
Conduct product demonstrations and test rides to showcase the features and benefits of e-bikes.
Process customer payments, including credit card transactions.
eBike Maintenance Operations:
Build, service, and prepare bicycles for customers.
Organize and maintain bicycle inventory, ensuring accuracy.
Ensure the Bike Shop and storage areas are organized and clean.
eBike Performance Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on various eBike models.
Interact with customers to diagnose eBike issues, provide estimates, and offer guidance on care and maintenance.
Manage eBike parts and accessories inventory, ensuring adequate supplies for repairs.
Implement and enforce quality control processes for eBike performance and safety.
Maintain detailed records of eBike maintenance and repairs.
Ensure eBikes are serviced in compliance with safety regulations and manufacturer guidelines.
Sales Process:
Guide customers through the sales process; from initial inquiry to final purchase.
Provide accurate pricing information, explain financing options, and address customer concerns.
Upsell accessories and additional services to enhance the overall customer experience.
Meet the monthly outlined sales goal standards each month as outlined by your GM.
Product Knowledge:
Stay up-to-date on the latest e-bike models, technology advancements , and industry trends.
Be able to communicate the technical specifications, advantages, and unique selling points of each e-bike model.
Assist customers in selecting the most suitable e-bike based on their needs and preferences.
Educate customers on the benefits of e-bikes, including environmental impact, cost savings, and health benefits.
Shop Cleanliness, Safety, and Organization:
Ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of the shop floor, including display areas and test ride zones.
Follow safety protocols and promote a safe environment for both customers and staff.
Organize inventory, accessories, and merchandise to create an appealing and accessible shopping environment.
Administrative Tasks:
Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
Maintain accurate customer records and follow up with customers post-purchase to ensure satisfaction.
Assist with inventory management, including restocking and organizing the showroom floor
Responsible for submitting all required service forms with every bike the service department works on.
Team Collaboration:
Collaborate with colleagues to create a positive and cohesive work environment.
Share insights and feedback on customer preferences and market trends with your colleagues and management.
Events Participation:
Work closely with GM in planning, scheduling and executing on outside sales programs including incentive programs, consumer events both in-store and elsewhere.
Occasional travel, participation and organizational setup for local and national events
Working Conditions:
This role primarily involves working in a retail environment, including weekends and holidays. Comfortable standing for extended periods and lifting/moving e-bikes as needed (80 lbs). The candidate should also be committed to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized shop environment.
