1st Shift Machine Operator

SUMMARY:

The machine operator will operate a machine that performs one or more packaging functions, such as filling, marking, labeling, banding, tying, packing or wrapping containers.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND CHARACTERISTICS

· Six months previous experience as a machine operator, including setup, operation, and troubleshooting in a warehouse environment.

· Computer and scanner experience

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Setup, startup, operation, changeover and shutdown of machine

· Perform adjustments or minor repairs of machine to ensure proper operation

· Document any malfunction and notify supervisor

· Monitor quality of product for consistency throughout the run. Including package quality, weights, counts in conformance with company standards.

· Ensures quality of finished product

· Coordinates line workers to ensure the proper staffing and attainment of daily schedule

· Change out machine, clean all components, and set the machine up for the next work order to be processed

· Replenish packing supplies such as film, skids, boxes, cartons, glue, ink or labels

· Marks materials with identifying information

· Keeps records of amounts of materials received and distributed

· Arranges stock parts in specified sequence for assembly by co workers

· Accurately completes all required quality and manufacturing paperwork

· Maintain proper housekeeping and area clean up

· Maintain daily/weekly preventative maintenance

· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals

· Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals

· Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and also draw and interpret bar graphs

· Ability to perform operations using units of weight measurement, volume and distance

· Effectively works with both departmental and plant-wide team to achieve company goals

PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS

· High school diploma or GED

· Ability to manage time and resources effectively

· Ability to stay focused and be productive despite interruptions

· Work effectively in a team environment

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

· Ability to stand for long periods of time

· Ability to use both hands to handle, feel or reach with hands and arms

· Ability to frequently lift or move up to 30lbs and occasionally as much as 75lbs

· Close vision and color vision are required

· Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
