For over 100 years, Maguire Iron has been an industry leader in the fabrication, construction, and maintenance of water storage tanks and elevated water towers. The Fabrication Project Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the coordination of maintenance-related fabrication projects, ensuring timely and accurate completion of shipments, builds, and related tasks. This role involves close collaboration with project managers, purchasing, welding, blast/paint teams, and other departments to maintain project schedules, organize materials, and uphold shop standards. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and adept at multitasking in a dynamic fabrication environment.
Essential Functions:
Shipment Coordination:
- Arrange shipments for iron via FedEx and hot shot services, coordinating with forklift operators to ensure timely and complete deliveries.
- Verify all shipments are complete and accurate, working with Logistics and Project Managers (PMs) to prepare a Bill of Lading (BOL) for every item shipped.
- For small orders, box items and obtain PM sign-off before shipping. Log and track shipments in the system
Build Coordination:
- Project Planning & Scheduling: Collaborate with project managers to develop project timelines, track progress, and ensure deadlines are met.
- Communication: Act as a primary point of contact for clients, vendors, and internal teams, providing updates on project status, resolving issues, and managing expectations.
- Collaborate with Purchasing and the Parts Welding Team to coordinate build needs for Maintenance orders and stock, primarily assisting fabrication by prioritizing build sequences.
- Assist fabricators with moving items in and out of work areas and coordinate with Purchasing to secure necessary materials (while Purchasing continues to manage burn-table material tracking).
Project Scheduling:
- Coordinate due dates with the Iron PM team for submitted orders, running weekly coordination meetings to align on timelines.
- Monitor and communicate changes to due dates, notifying teams if orders can be completed early or if delays occur.
Inventory & Organization:
- Maintain a clean and organized shipping and storage area for iron items.
- Label items for specific iron jobs and pull small parts as needed.
- During downtime, clean and reorganize the parts cage (with approval), label items, and conduct cycle counts for cage and yard inventory.
Blast/Paint Coordination:
- Work with Manufacturing Director to ensure iron items progress through blast and paint processes at an appropriate pace to meet project timelines.
Additional Duties:
- Order welding supplies as needed to support fabrication operations.
- Process jobs as directed by Manufacturing Support during downtime.

Qualifications:

- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training in project coordination, manufacturing, or a related field is a plus.
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in project coordination, fabrication, or manufacturing, preferably in a shop environment. Familiarity with iron fabrication or tank projects is an asset.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with internal teams, PMs, and external vendors.
- Proficiency in inventory management and shipment tracking systems (specific software knowledge, e.g., [insert if applicable], is a plus).
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Basic knowledge of fabrication processes, materials, and welding supplies.
- Forklift operation certification or willingness to obtain certification is preferred.

Working Environment:
