Job Summary
The Director of Student Activities directs the overall goals of the Student Activities Office by supporting students’ intellectual, social, cultural, and recreational activities. The director is expected to be a role model, facilitator, leader, and an essential person in the effective process of student development at Maharishi International University.
Job Responsibilities
1. Plan and coordinate multiple and complex campus events and programs.
2. Hire, train, mentor, and support a small staff of federal work-study students and others in the organization and delivery of campus events and programs.
3. Communicate with outside speakers, entertainers, and event leaders, as well as managers of off-campus venues, and negotiate contracts where needed.
4. Provide fiscal advisement and oversight of the student activities semesterly budget.
5. Oversee the development of website(s), social media accounts(s), event calendar(s) and printed materials to effectively promote campus events.
6. Meet regularly with other members of the Student Life team to find ways to enrich the co-curricular experience for students.
7. Seek regular feedback and suggestions from the student body.
8. Develop a comprehensive assessment of programs and services.
9. Develop and maintain relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for student activities.
10. Work with Student Government to support their initiatives for student engagement and assist them in developing a semesterly budget.
11. Oversee the student lounge and student center lobby spaces for use by the student body or by student clubs.
Job Qualifications
- BA degree (Masters preferred)
- A minimum of two years of increasing responsibility and leadership in a related area of student engagement (i.e. student affairs, residential life, leadership, advising, etc.)
- Solid organizational expertise with basic knowledge of general accounting principles, cash management and record keeping
- Ability to reach out and engage diverse student populations
- Commitment to continuous improvement to meet departmental goals and objectives
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Confident spokesperson with ability to present to large groups and lead discussions
- Willing to work evenings and weekends
