Position Summary
Maharishi International University (MIU) is seeking a Field Coordinator and Lab Instructor to support the Regenerative Organic Agriculture (ROA) Department. This position plays a key role in managing MIU’s faculty research plots, student teaching plots, and practical lab experiences. The role involves working closely with faculty and students to ensure hands-on learning in regenerative agriculture while maintaining the MIU Farm Center’s land and resources.
Key Responsibilities
1. In-Person Lab Coordination
- Work with faculty to design and implement hands-on field labs for students.
- Organize logistics, resources, and equipment for field-based learning activities.
- Supervise students in lab sessions, ensuring safety and effective learning.
- Teach land and crop management skills, emphasizing regenerative agriculture principles.
2. Farm and Grounds Maintenance
- Oversee daily farm maintenance, ensuring adherence to organic and regenerative practices.
- Manage planting, irrigation, weeding, and harvesting schedules for educational crops.
- Maintain farm tools and equipment.
- Lead seasonal planting and harvesting activities.
- Support sustainable land management in collaboration with the Farm Manager.
3. Research Plot Management
- Organize and oversee faculty research plots, ensuring effective land use.
- Assist faculty and research teams in conducting agricultural experiments.
4. Administrative & Community Engagement
- Assist in organizing farm-related outreach events, including community tours and educational initiatives.
Job Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Option 1: Master’s degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Option 2: Bachelor’s degree in a related field two years of farming experience.
- Minimum two years of land management experience in a regenerative or organic farming setting.
- At least one year of crop management experience, ideally in an academic or research environment.
- Experience working with students or in an educational setting (preferred).
- Strong ability to collaborate with faculty, students, and community stakeholders.
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong understanding of regenerative organic agricultural principles.
- Experience with farm equipment, irrigation systems, and soil health management.
- Knowledge of crop management, pest control, composting, and sustainable land use.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills to manage multiple projects.
- Experience in data collection and record-keeping (preferred).
- Comfortable working outdoors and leading hands-on educational activities.
