The Mahaska County YMCA is looking for the right individual to develop and grow a new martial arts program. Under the guidance and supervision of the Program Director - Sports, the Martial Arts Instructor is responsible for guiding beginning and experienced participants through the YMCA Martial Arts Program. The goal of this program is to assist members in making a healthy lifestyle change and to build self-esteem. The role of the Martial Arts Instructor is to assist members through this process by providing personalized attention, support and motivation. The instructor will provide character development, health education, and instruction that will lead to member retention and involvement.
This is a part-time position with a varied schedule.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Instructor must possess, or receive within 90 days of hire CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Understand the components and principles of fitness and be able to discuss them in laymen terms.
- This individual must possess a professional image and ability to provide positive feedback, motivation, and encouragement.
- The instructor must be able to possess and set an excellent example of health and fitness and member service.
