Description:
Position Title: Substitute Nurse (RN or LPN)
Immediate Supervisor: Building Administrator
Normal Working Hours: Called as Needed
Normally, shift within hours of 8:30AM – 3:30PM, M-F
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Administer medication and treatments including deciding the extent of medical treatment needed and carrying out of treatment.
- Provide health care for all students in case of illness or injury.
- Maintain all health supplies and check all medical equipment. May be assigned to attend field trips as needed.
- Maintain health records for all students.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
- Shall be available for and attend scheduled meetings and training sessions.
- Adhere to all ORC, OAC, MCBDD and lead agency policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the registered nurse or supervisor.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- May be exposed to infectious disease.
- May work with individuals with behavioral disabilities who display behaviors.
- May be exposed to chemicals commonly found in an office environment (i.e., toner, correction fluid, etc.).
REQUIREMENTS
- Hold appropriate license as required.
- Hold and maintain current certification in BLS
- Possess or acquire knowledge of:
- Universal precautions for infectious disease.
- MCBDD policies and procedures.
- Recognition and reporting of abuse and neglect.
- Recognition and management of communicable diseases.
- Bill of Rights.
- Proper lifting techniques
- Fire suppression.
- Holds and maintain training in current board required assault prevention and intervention technique.
- Ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information/records.
- Maintain valid driver’s license in state of residence.
- BCI background clearance.
- Ability to maintain good attendance and punctuality.
- Any other training as required by the Ohio DODD or county board policy.
