What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elevator Operator position at Maid of the Mist?
COMPANY OVERVIEW
Since 1846, our world-renowned passenger vessels have been providing up close boat tours in Niagara Falls, NY, USA to customers near and far. The 2020 season saw the debut of two new, all-electric, emission-free vessels, the first of their kind built in the U.S.
JOB SUMMARY
This position’s primary focus is direct oversight of the customers at the Elevator Tower, loading passengers and being in a fully enclosed elevator for much of the day
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Loading the appropriate number of visitors into the Elevators
· Operation of the elevator from each level
· Interact with the public daily
· Provide directions to visitors as necessary
· Other tasks as directed by Management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered for the role applicants MUST meet the following criteria.
· Excellent communication skills working with visitors with diverse backgrounds and native languages
· Strong attention to detail follow-through
· Ability to work well under pressure
· Perform tasks independently with limited or no direction
· The ability to work professionally with the public
The ability to maintain a stationary position throughout the shift
ERGONOMIC REQUIREMENTS: Sitting, standing, stooping, bending, light lifting, carrying. All the ergonomic requirements must be performed without significant risk of injury to oneself or others or otherwise demonstrate or explain how one can perform essential functions listed above.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to clearly read, speak, and understand English. Ability to understand and execute complex oral and written instructions while working independently. Must be US Citizen. Background check may be required.
