Veterinary Assistant

Main Street Animal Clinic is looking for a Veterinary Assistant to join our team! Our Assistants play an integral role in maintaining hospital flow and providing exceptional patient care. They are responsible for assisting with patient exams, following treatment plans by administering medications and treatments to hospitalized pets, and more!

In this role, you will also work closely with your Technician team to manage the veterinarian’s orders, ensuring the highest standards of patient care while maintaining an efficient workflow to keep procedures on schedule.

This is a full-time role: (5-8s) with rotating Saturday coverage.

Your qualifications:

We are a fun, 3-doctor practice, looking for someone ready to learn and grow in their role as a Veterinary Assistant. The ideal candidate would have 1-3 years of foundational experience as a Veterinary Assistant and is used to working at a multi-doctor practice.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Restraining pets for exams, treatments, venipuncture, etc.
• Radiology positioning
• Ability to stand on your feet for extended periods of time
• Experience with Cornerstone is a plus, but not required
• Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs
• Blood draws and IV catheter placement
• SQ/IM Injections and medication administration
• Microscopic evaluation - setting up blood smears, fecal cytology, ear cytology, skin cytology
• Client communication and education

Required qualifications and skillset:

• 1-3 of veterinary experience in a clinical setting
• Proficiency in the following skills:
  • Restraint
  • Client communication and education
  • Assisting in exam rooms and gathering patient histories
