Main Street Wadsworth (MSW) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the economic revitalization and historic preservation of downtown Wadsworth. Wadsworth became the State of Ohio’s 22nd Accredited Main Street Community in 2016. MSW’s coordinating agency is Columbus-based preservation advocacy non-profit Heritage Ohio, which works closely with Main Street America and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. 


MSW is comprised of organization staff, a volunteer Board of Directors (BoD), and Four-Point Teams of volunteers who create and execute Design, Economic Vitality, Promotion, and Operational projects. 


Responsibilities: The Community Engagement Manager has both internal and external facing responsibilities, ranging from project development and management to administration (information technology, reporting, development), and relationship management. The Community Engagement Manager will report directly to and partner closely with the executive director to advance Main Street Wadsworth’s future growth and strategic planning. The position necessitates a high-level of follow-up, project management skills, and organization to ensure collaborative work is advanced. Key areas of focus include:


Marketing and Public Relations:

  • Develop, implement, and execute marketing and publicity plans.
  • Create and execute social media campaigns to increase engagement and reach using photos, videos, and graphics.
  • Manage the Main Street Wadsworth website through continual updating as events are added.
  • Manage the Main Street Wadsworth Social Media Accounts including Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms as needed through the creation of a content calendar. This position is responsible for monitoring comments and answering questions as needed.
  • Manage press conferences and write press releases.
  • Create talking points for media interviews.
  • Ensure that MSW maintains brand.
  • Coordinate media interviews.
  • Cultivate followers and fans of our Downtown by encouraging engagement with the community through strategic marketing and publicity initiatives and social media campaigns.
  • Promote content through social media paid advertising and media buys as directed by the Executive Director or Board as indicated to facilitate organizational goals.
  • Encourage a stream for cross-promotions of Downtown events, businesses and news.
  • Represent Main Street Wadsworth in partner meetings, Heritage Ohio and Main Street America groups, and other public forums.


Event Management:

  • Assist the Executive Director in the planning, coordination, and execution of downtown events, including: 
  • 11 First Fridays (January – December)
  • 19 Farmers Markets (June – September)
  • Herb & Craft Festival (May)
  • July 3 Fireworks & Food Trucks (July)
  • Scare on the Square (October) 
  • Candlelight Walk (November)
  • Shop Small Saturday (November)
  • Work with the Executive Director to develop event goals and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Coordinate vendor and volunteer logistics, set-up and tear-down included, in coordination with the City of Wadsworth, Promotions Committee, Health Department, and Sponsors. 
  • Ensure work plans are created for each project and shared with the Executive Director. 
  • Perform post-event evaluations to improve future events and maintain records of same. 
  • Manage resources needed to complete events (timeline, vendor database, activities, budget).
  • Oversee the creation of event signage, event and brand merchandise as needed.


Administration:

  • Be an advocate for the organization, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate.
  • Assisting the Executive Director with fundraising initiatives as necessary. 
  • Administrative support in terms of convening meetings, following up with people around attendance.
  • Supporting our transition from QuickBooks, Hubspot, Wufoo and Hootsuite to MonkeyPod. 
  • Assist with day-to-day tasks and other duties as requested by the Executive Director for administrative support, including mail, errands, general office work, data entry, organization, spreadsheet management, invoices, contracts, e-mails, etc. 
  • Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required.
  • Experience in project management, event management, marketing and public relations.
  • Success in roles requiring execution of multiple tasks while responding to multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to learn and use platforms and systems utilized by Main Street Wadsworth such as Microsoft Office Suite, GSuite, Google, Dropbox, In Design, Adobe, social media platforms, and other related programs. 
  • Proven ability to work with efficiency, flexibility, and good humor.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide array of people – junior and senior, for-profit and nonprofit, and from diverse backgrounds.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passionate about Main Street Wadsworth’s mission and impact.
  • Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in organizational settings.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Spark, imagination, creativity.
  • Action Oriented—enjoys working hard and looks for challenges; able to act and react as necessary, even if limited information is available; not afraid to take charge of a situation.
  • Understanding of website management – WordPress.
  • Standing or sitting for long periods of time with frequent bending and turning.
  • Must be able to lift 30lbs.
