What are the responsibilities and job description for the Help Desk Analyst position at Maine Community College System?
The Maine Community College System (MCCS) is looking for a full-time Help Desk Analyst. The position will report to the Help Desk Manager. This position will be located at York County Community College in Wells, Maine. The position will be responsible for the day-to-day support of technology users at Maines Community Colleges. The position will answer phone calls, emails, chat messages, and in-person questions to enable community stakeholders to be successful users of technology. Duties may include providing support and education, resetting passwords, installing software, configuring devices, troubleshooting problems, and other duties as assigned by the Help Desk Manager.
The Help Desk Analyst is within the MSEA Support Services Unit, with an anticipated range of 13. The required minimum qualifications include an associates degree in information technology or a related field or a high school diploma and up to 2 years of relevant work experience. Formal training and experience may be considered in lieu of education on a year-for-year basis.
The required knowledge, skills, and abilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Knowledge of local area networks based on PCs and/or servers.
- Knowledge of operating systems on PCs and servers.
- Knowledge of computer hardware and software and the ability to install them.
- Knowledge of proper computer system data security/backup procedures.
- Knowledge of cloud computing services and how to use them.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot computer system problems.
- Ability to conduct training on computer system operation and software and consult with students, faculty, and staff on the best use of a computer system.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring lifting and/or physical exertion may be required.
- Strong communication skills.
