About Us:

Maine Community Power Cooperative (MCPC) is a mission-driven start-up working to accelerate the clean energy transition by developing and delivering community solar projects that benefit Maine residents, businesses, and municipalities. As a cooperative, we are member-owned and rooted in a commitment to equity, sustainability, and local economic empowerment. We are seeking a passionate, detail-oriented, and experienced Project Development Coordinator to join our growing team.

Position Overview:

The Project Development Coordinator will play a key role in the end-to-end development of community solar projects across Maine. This individual will coordinate site origination, permitting, interconnection, landowner relations, and will support cross-functional collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. You will be part of a small, fast-paced team working to bring clean energy to local communities and discounted electricity to local ratepayers. This position will work closely with other members of the Project Development team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage the development lifecycle of community solar projects from site origination to Notice to Proceed (NTP).
  • Conduct due diligence on new project sites including feasibility assessments, permitting requirements, and utility interconnection.
  • Work closely with landowners, municipalities, engineers, utility contacts, and other stakeholders to keep projects moving forward.
  • Track project timelines, budgets, and milestones using project management tools.
  • Prepare and submit local, state, and federal permitting applications and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Support interconnection application processes and manage follow-ups with utilities.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior leadership on project status, risks, and timelines.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience in solar project development, preferably in distributed generation or community solar.
  • Strong knowledge of permitting, land use, and interconnection processes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in project management software (e.g., Odoo, Clickup, Trello, MS Project).
  • Familiarity with Maine’s regulatory environment and energy landscape is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Energy Policy, or related field is a plus.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a purpose-driven start-up shaping Maine’s energy future.
  • Collaborative and mission-aligned team culture.
  • Competitive salary and generous paid time off.
  • Opportunity for professional growth and leadership within a growing organization.
  • Flexible work schedule with a strong commitment to work-life balance. Option to work remotely, at Portland-based coworking space, and/or at Norway office
