STEM Education Specialist - Computer Science Research

Location: Augusta, Maine (Hybrid/Remote Options Available)

Starting Date: ASAP

Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000 (dependent on experience)

About Us:

The Maine Math & Science Alliance (MMSA) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to inspiring excitement in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). We support K-12 educators through professional development, research, and network building.

Key Responsibilities:

• Research & Data Analysis:
• Enhance MMSA’s capacity in CS education research
• Collaborate on equity-driven research designs
• Utilize qualitative and quantitative methods (preference for strong quantitative experience)
• Lead and disseminate research findings through various channels
• Design and oversee research and evaluation studies
• Grant Writing & Research Development:
• Write and develop grant proposals for K-12 CS integration
• Build a research agenda focused on CS education and secure funding
• Professional Development Delivery:
• Deliver high-quality professional development programs for educators
• Facilitate summer institutes and other learning activities
• Networking & Collaboration:
• Build and maintain relationships with rural Maine schools
• Engage with teachers and school leaders to support CS education practices

Education & Experience:

• PhD or equivalent in education, computer science, STEM education, or related field
• Significant experience in professional development and mixed-methods research
• Strong skills in statistical software (SPSS, R) and qualitative analysis tools (e.g., Dedoose)
• Proven track record in grant writing and securing funding
• Experience with Research and Practice Partnerships preferred

Skills:

• Strong analytical and detail-oriented thinking
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Google Drive, Airtable, and Zoom
