About the Role
The Maine Mineral & Gem Museum seeks a dynamic leader to serve as the Executive Director. This key position is responsible for managing and directing the museum's operations.
The Executive Director will report directly to the Board of Trustees and be responsible for providing leadership, vision, and direction to the organization. Key responsibilities include coordinating with the Board on long-term planning and direction, representing the museum in media, fundraising, and community settings, and overseeing all departments.
- Strategic Planning:
- Develop a comprehensive strategic plan in collaboration with the Board of Trustees and museum leadership.
- Identify areas of need and seek resources to support the growth and development of the MMGM.
- Departmental Oversight:
- Supervise and lead a team of full- and part-time employees across various departments.
- Work closely with the Curator to plan, organize, interpret, and present exhibitions, lectures, and outreach programs.
- Communication and Community Engagement:
- Develop and implement effective communication strategies to engage the community and promote the MMGM.
- Build relationships with schools, businesses, community organizations, and local governments to enhance public engagement.
- Marketing and Fundraising:
- Develop and execute marketing strategies to promote the MMGM.
- Collaborate with the Development Committee to create and execute fundraising plans.
