The University of Southern Maine invites you to apply for the position of Administrative Specialist and join a collaborative team to support its growing undergraduate and graduate programs on the Gorham campus.
The Administrative Specialist will support three academic departments within the College of Management and Human Services : Educational and School Psychology, Educational Leadership and Adult and Higher Education, and Geography and Anthropology. These departments offer undergraduate programs that explore global issues through community engagement and graduate programs that prepare behavior analysts, school psychologists, and educational leaders. The Administrative Specialist plays a critical role in the efficient operations of these programs.
The Administrative Specialist will be responsible for a variety of administrative and clerical tasks that require strong organizational skills and in-depth procedural knowledge. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, onboarding new students, assisting with course scheduling and registration, maintaining student records, updating program websites, and purchasing materials for the University's Assessment Center, Archaeology Labs, and Geographic Information Systems Lab. The Administrative Specialist also serves as the primary point of contact and an ongoing resource for both internal and external stakeholders, including current and prospective students, faculty and staff, and personnel in partnering K-12 schools and related organizations.
The ideal candidate for the Administrative Specialist position enjoys collaboration with a team and is committed to providing student-focused services. Effective oral and written communication, technology, and organizational and time management skills are essential for success. The Administrative Assistant must be able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, exercise initiative and sound judgement, maintain confidentiality, and interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
This full-time position on the Gorham campus pays $18.86 / hour (non-negotiable) for a new hire or the appropriate transfer rate for a current employee with the University of Maine System. The position also affords an excellent opportunity to pursue a bachelor's or advanced degree through the University's generous tuition waiver benefit.
