What are the responsibilities and job description for the EdGE Afterschool Site Coordinator (Machias) position at Maine Seacoast Mission?
Position Summary
The EdGE Afterschool Site Coordinator supports Mission Downeast initiatives that leverage education, leadership, experiential, outdoor activities, and mentoring-based programs to build youth engagement, aspirations, and resilience. This position supports EdGE afterschool program with a focus on students in K-8 grades.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Provide a safe and welcoming environment for all EdGE afterschool participants
- Plan and lead afterschool programming that aligns with the Mission’s values
- Plan and facilitate program and activities that engage youth
- Supervise, train and mentor part-time staff at afterschool program
- Oversee site specific administrative activities such as approving timesheets, time change requests, PTO requests, scheduling of staff, and summiting weekly reports
- Overseeing medication administration, incident reports and other program related documentation
- Maintaining and using CampBrain for attendance and relevant student information
- Act as a positive role model and mentor to both staff and students
- Attend quarterly EdGE coordinator meetings
- Support in the effort of data collecting for program evaluation purposes when applicable
- Support the Mission’s Marketing efforts by submitting photos weekly to the Marketing Department

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal, relationship management skills; a collaborative working style
- At least two years of experience supervising and mentoring staff
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or job-related experience
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience working with students who come from rural and lower income backgrounds
- Lived experience that reflects the communities we serve
- Experience working with students in experiential education
- Spanish language proficiency
Special Qualifications and Certifications
- A clean driver’s license
- First-aid and CPR training or willingness to obtain within six months of hire
- Background check required unless already employed by a school partner
Position Conditions and Requirements
Work Environment
- Ability to work in school spaces, outside in various weather conditions and, at times, in a noisy environment
- Ability to use computer or mobile device to clock in and out for time sheets
Physical Demands
- Able to remain in a stationary position for up to two hours at a time
- Able to move in a variety of positions for activities and games with children
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Travel Requirements
- Ability to travel to program site
Compensation
This is a full-time, non-exempt position based on a 20-hour work week. The rate is $24/hour based on experience.
