Position:  Maintenance Worker

 

Supervisor: Facilities Manager

 

Non-Exempt

 

General Job Description:

                Take responsibility and use good judgment in performing the tasks in relation to the job. Also to be able to use good sound judgment and all safety measures when working in the school buildings and when children are present and pose a danger to themselves.

                 

Work Schedule:

                Contract Days:260 /yr

                Contract Hours: 8/day

 

               

 Qualifications:

                High school diploma or equivalent. Any technical school training will be given due consideration. Must have a valid driver’s license. Three years experience in school facility maintenance or prior experience in related fields will be given due consideration. Must have working knowledge of carpentry and be able to work with a variety of basic hand tools. This position will perform a variety of skilled carpentry and general construction duties supporting the maintenance and repair and to perform a variety of technical skills relative to assigned areas of responsibility.

All maintenance, grounds, and custodial personnel are required to obtain help when lifting or carrying any item weighing more than 90 lbs. or which is bulky or is awkward to handle.

 

 

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Perform the work necessary to maintain all buildings inside and outside throughout the school district.
  2. Perform all prescribed maintenance and service on all equipment and buildings following manufacturers' requirements, federal and state requirements and insurance requirements.
  3. Complete all required maintenance logs and records.
  4. Inspect all equipment and buildings by observing, monitoring and adjusting equipment during operations.
  5. Record and document all work performed.
  6. Perform a continuous preventative maintenance program throughout all buildings to ensure the safety and continuous operation of all functional areas; including doors and hardware, furniture (desks & tables), windows, drapes or blinds, moveable wall partition, dry wall, painting, furniture repair, wall repair, light stucco, all carpentry duties.
  7. Notify manager of any conditions or occurances that may adversley affect the safety of operation or the quality of equipment or buildings.
  8. Use proper PPE (personal protective equipment)
  9. Conduct yourself in a friendly and courteous manner at all times and provide efficient, timely service.
  10. Must attend all departmental safety and staff meetings. Must attend new employee orientation.
  11. Must follow departmental safety policies and procedures as well as manufacturer's safety policies and procedure.
  12. Other duites as assigned by Facilities Manager.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Demonstrate ability to follow instruction
  • Thorough knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the work
  • Thorough knowlege of the repair, maintenance and construction involving general carpentry.
  • Considerable skills in locating and correcting defects related to building structures.
  • Ability to communicte effectively, both verbally and written.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work indpendently.
