General Description:
The Supervisor, HVAC/Electrical Systems ensures the HVAC and electrical systems for all of Richmond Public Schools facilities operate effectively and in compliance with safety policy, OSHA, EPA, and other government regulations. The Supervisor also oversees the daily operations of specialized trades’ personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures, in collaboration with the Director, Facilities that HVAC/electrical systems are operating effectively across the division
- Supervises and evaluates a team of specialized trades’ staff
- Assists in the development of the 5-year capital plan
- Manages the budget for all HVAC/electrical needs
- Creates preventative maintenance and replacement project plans/schedules for all HVAC/electrical systems
- Performs routine preventative maintenance of HVAC/electrical equipment to extend the life of all systems
- Maintains, replaces, and repairs hardware and software systems for Building Automation Systems
- Works with HVAC/electrical contractors to develop specifications for purchases of equipment, materials, and services
- Reviews blueprints to make recommendations for, and provide oversight on, construction and maintenance projects
- Coordinates required inspections for generators, elevators, boilers, pressure vessels, sprinkler systems, and maintains related records
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of State approved vocational training in HVAC or electrical program; Master license in HVAC or Electrical preferred
- Proficient in facility maintenance, scheduling, government codes, and construction
- Minimum of 5 years experience supervising trades and support personnel
- Excellent verbal and oral communication skills
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in extreme weather conditions when needed
