What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Engineer (Kitchen Equipment) position at MAINTENANCE?
Spotsylvania County Public schools is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to perform advanced general maintenance on the School Division's kitchen equipment, including undertaking the construction and renovation projects on school division buildings as directed. Daily functions may include ordering and purchasing building and maintenance materials. This position is ideal for those who have many years of expierence in their respective trade and are working toward their Master license as part of their career growth!
Essential Job Functions:
- Diagnoses and repairs malfunctions in various types of food service equipment and refrigeration systems.
- Installs new food service equipment and refrigeration equipment and systems when required.
- Relocates and expands existing food service equipment and refrigeration systems as required.
- Repairs, replaces, and/or calibrates controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring.
- Fabricates, assembles, and installs electrical wiring, controls and piping according to specifications and code.
- Wires and connects motors, compressors, temperature controls, and humidity controls according to wiring schematics.
- Maintains refrigerant dispensing records to meet federal requirements.Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for all food service equipment and refrigeration equipment, including changing of filters and cleaning condensers and coils.
- Performs all scheduled preventive maintenance and cleaning on all food service and refrigeration equipment as needed.
Education and Experience:
Required
- High School Diploma or GED
- Current (valid, non-expired) Driver’s License
- Seven (7) years of experience working in a trade (HVAC, Electrical or Plumbing) as a maintenance technician, ideally within a public school system or other Educational setting
Special Requirements:
- The employee must pass a yearly physical and participate fully in the drug/alcohol screening program.
- This position is designated as "Essential Personnel", which requires that employees report to their job site during emergency situations, such as snow, inclement weather, or other emergency situations. May be on call 24 hours, 7 days a week for emergency situations, including weather and other building emergencies.

Employment Terms: Employment may be offered as a 12-Month (243 Day), full-time position. The work schedule for this position is 7.5 hours worked per day. This position is evaluated annually.
