JOB SUMMARY
The Staff Social Worker or Counselor is expected to maintain a rolling caseload to meet the needs of the patient population we serve. The typical schedule includes team coverage of MHP Behavioral Health daily walk-in hours, new patient appointments, follow up psychotherapy appointments, team meetings, case management / administrative task time, and possible supervision of students. The Social Worker or Counselor is encouraged to participate in community outreach. Part-time Telework would also be considered if desired.
This role takes place primarily in the Obstetrics / Gynecology Department, with supplemental support in the Pediatric Department. Preferred background and passion working with OB / GYN patients and the pediatric population.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Professional & Technical Skills
Minimum two years of experience in social work or counseling and broad background with diverse patient populations, preferably in a medical setting.
Education
Master's degree in social work, psychology, or counseling from accredited university.
License(s) or Certifications(s)
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), License Mental Health Counselor(LMHC), or Licensed Family and Marriage Therapist (LMFT) is required. .
Other Skills or Requirements
Knowledge of professional social work principles, methodology, and ethics and of human psychosocial development within the family, community, and culture. Knowledge of the use of therapeutic relationship to foster patient involvement. Familiarity with brief therapy theories / techniques and therapeutic process . Understanding of techniques for facilitating client motivation to change behavior. Knowledge of health and social issues impacting diverse clients and their well-being.
