Goals and Objectives

Performing general maintenance and repair work assigned by Facilities Maintenance Manager, to keep Makena Golf & Beach Club in pristine condition for Members and their Guests.

Responsibilities

  • Completes daily/weekly maintenance activities for the club pool and spa.
  • Complete projects as assigned by Facilities Maintenance Manager including electrical, mechanical, basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, and general maintenance for club operations.
  • Communicate information related to tasks and projects that will impact service within a specific department.
  • Keep work areas neat, and organized and clean up job sites appropriately.
  • Follow safe work practices.
  • Follow project policies.
  • Constructs install or assemble small, prefabricated furniture items such as shelving, marker or bulletin boards, and similar items. Installs demolishes and repairs partition walls, suspended acoustical ceilings, and window and wall trim on a limited scale.
  • Paints and stains surface as necessary. Performs minor repairs to exterior areas such as parking lots, walls, windows, and landscape irrigation systems.
  • Installs signage as directed.
  • Clears roof surfaces of accumulated debris. Clears roof drainage system of visible items that may cause blockage, and tests drain for proper operation, if possible.
  • Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Competencies for Success in the Role

  • Demonstrates respect for and appreciation of Hawaiian values, history, and culture, understanding its implication in one's work, fostering meaningful relationships, and embracing the community served.
  • Knowledge and a minimum of 3 years experience in basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, major and minor appliances.
  • Experience maintaining pool and spa equipment.
  • Good communication efforts and accessibility.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Delivers results - getting things done on time and accurately, reports issues that affect a deadline.
  • Collaboration - regularly works with other departments or projects.
  • Position requires manual dexterity and mechanical ability to operate standard manual and power tools.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
  • Possesses verbal and written communication skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and a shift greater than eight (8) hours in length.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to; working indoors and outdoors, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying up to 100 lbs., bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, pushing and pulling
