What are the responsibilities and job description for the After School Program Instructor position at Maker Labs?
Maker Labs offers fun after school classes with hands-on learning and STEAM activities that allow kids to discover and experiment.
Program Instructors are a temporary position that facilitates our 60 min after-school classes at schools. A perfect Maker Labs Instructor has creativity and excitement to explore the projects with kids. They provide guidance and structure, but don’t necessarily give all the answers.
Instructor Responsibilities
- Providing kids with enough guidance to explore each project
- Maintaining a safe space for kids to express their creativity
- Making sure the kids uphold their responsibilities in the classroom
- Setting up and cleaning up class
- Taking photos during class
- Offering feedback to supervisor
Hours and Schedule
Program instructors will make around $70 per class for about 2 hours of work including prep time, class time, and clean-up. Class frequency can be between 1-3 days a week, for up to 10 weeks. These classes are during after school hours, such as 2:40-3:40pm.
Current openings include Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday classes as well as substitution opportunities.
Classes are in Walnut Creek, Danville, Antioch, Pleasant Hill, and Oakland.
