MAKERS architecture and urban design, LLP is seeking a senior facility planner for our federal facilities planning team in Seattle or San Diego. If you want to work with a team of listeners, hard workers, innovators, collaborators, and problem-solvers, MAKERS is for you.
Our federal facilities planning work integrates architecture, planning, and multi-disciplinary project management communication to help federal agencies and their projects “get off on the right foot.” Primary clients include the US Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. We offer the opportunity to be involved in what is often the most creative phase of design, shape some of the most consequential aspects of projects, and positively impact the agencies we serve.

Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will bring a diverse perspective and have outstanding organizational, analysis, and communication skills. Typical tasks may include:
- Serve as a liaison between government agencies and other organizations to develop analyses and plans.
- Lead and participate in planning charrettes for Federal and Military clients as both a facilitator and team member.
- Provide project updates, metrics, communication, and documentation to clients and stakeholders.
- Overseeing projects from inception to completion, including budget management, timelines, and team deliverables.
- Assigning tasks to internal staff and actively contributing to designated projects.
Required Skills
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills for creating and conveying planning reports and projects.
- Strong analytical abilities and the capability to work both independently and collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams.
- A solid understanding of planning principles, methodologies, and techniques.
- Knowledge of space planning and facility utilization assessments.
- Proficiency in conducting research and preparing statistical reports on land use, as well as physical, social, and economic factors and constraints.
- Prior experience and relevant training in applying planning techniques to develop both long-term and short-term space utilization plans.
Professional Requirements
- At least five years of experience in a professional planning-related role, preferably in a federal context, with a minimum of two years in project management.
- A master’s or bachelor’s degree in architecture, planning or a related field.
- Knowledge of military (primarily Army, Navy, Air Force, and Space Force) master planning and real property management preferred.
- AICP, RLA, PE, RA certification, LEED AP or higher preferred.
- Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office suites.
- Experienced in using ArcPro GIS, with AutoCAD knowledge considered a plus.
- Possesses a valid driver’s license and the ability to conduct fieldwork, which may involve domestic and/or international travel. Candidate must be a US citizen for this position.

This is a salary, exempt position, with a salary range of $75,000.00-$100,000.00 dependent on level of position, candidate skills, knowledge, location, and experience.
