Summary: A Material Handler I performs a wide range of basic duties to help maintain service center stock and assist in fulfilling repair orders, along with clerical duties of moderate scope in a fast-paced work environment. All responsibilities must be carried out safely to provide customer satisfaction to our internal and external customers, as consistent with Makita's company values. The role will focus on satisfying both internal and external customers as efficiently as possible, with a goal of 100% performance level.

Salary: $24.00 per hour

Essential Job Duties

• Receives tools for repair, creates repair job in computer, places tool in queue for repair.
• Prepare tools and part orders for shipment as required, completes daily shipping process.
• Checks all incoming stock orders against appropriate purchase orders and packing lists.
• Receives stock orders into computer system, puts stock away in designated locations.
• Assist in managing parts inventory accurately. Assist in physical inventory. Research and resolve discrepancies.
• Assists in managing and maintaining office supplies.
• May handle monetary transactions and assist with the daily reconciliation of cash drawer.
• Maintain compliance with all safety, security and customer compliance procedures.
• Maintain a neat, orderly, clean and safe work area which may include, but not limited to sweeping, dusting, trash disposal and all other sanitation duties as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Skills Required

• Ability to work in a team environment and perform duties in all areas of the service center.
• Ability to communicate effectively with peers, management, and customers.
• Ability to notify customers of repair estimates, completed repairs, and orders ready for pickup.
• Time Management Skills: Must have the ability to manage time to complete all assigned work.
• Must possess a positive attitude and the ability to adapt to changes in workload requirements.
• Understanding of basic computer skills, including but not limited to email, word processing, and spreadsheets.
• Able to maintain processes and files with integrity.
• Bilingual Spanish preferred but not required.
  
  

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment: This position works in a warehouse setting, with some outdoor exposure during the workday. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines, and standard warehouse equipment such as hand trucks, box cutters, and tape dispensers.

Travel: No travel is expected for this position.

Education And/or Experience Desired

• High School Diploma / GED, or equivalent years of Experience to exhibit the knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through completion of any of these requirements.
• 0 - 2 years of experience within warehouse operations.
• Proficient ability to read, write and communicate in English.
  
  

Physical Demands

• Required to regularly use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
• Frequently required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
• Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance
• Regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Be able to push, lift, and carry 30-50 pounds of merchandise and fixtures.
• While lifting boxes bend, twist and turn while placing them into their appropriate place.
• Able to be on their feet for at least 8 hours a day.
• Ability to use power hand tools weighing up to 35 lbs.
• Able to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and ramps.
• Continuously reach out to sort miscellaneous items.
• Coordinate the movement of the body, arms and legs while walking down aisles and carrying boxes of supplies.
• Ability to work in an environment that is sometimes hot or cold, and subject to occasional load noises and/or hazardous conditions.
