Junior Graphic Designer - La Mirada, CA

Job Summary:
Makita U.S.A. is seeking a Junior Production Designer to support the Marketing and Sales departments by creating marketing collateral and digital assets that align with our sales and marketing strategy. This entry-level position requires a creative individual with a strong understanding of page layout, print design, and digital media design. The Jr Production Designer will assist in producing materials such as brochures, flyers, posters, and digital assets while supporting the digital designer with updates to eblasts, social media, and website layouts.

Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 per year

• Print Design: Support the Marketing team by designing brochures, flyers, posters, and other printed marketing materials to meet the company’s sales and marketing goals.
• Print Production: Assist with the printing, mounting, cutting, and folding of internal print jobs to support multiple events and trade shows throughout the year.
• Digital Design: Collaborate with the Digital Designer to make updates and edits to eblasts, social media posts, and website layouts, ensuring consistency with branding and marketing objectives.
• Event Support: Provide design support for various company events, creating and preparing printed materials and digital assets as needed.
• Illustration Skills (Plus): Utilize illustration skills for design projects, including custom graphics and visuals that enhance marketing materials.
• Collaborative Support: Work closely with the marketing and sales teams to ensure design projects are completed efficiently and in line with the company’s goals.

Skills Required:

• Page Layout Skills: Proficiency in designing layouts for print materials such as brochures, flyers, and posters, ensuring the content is clear, visually engaging, and adheres to brand guidelines. The ability to organize text, images, and graphics into a cohesive, professional design that enhances the marketing message is key.
• Digital Design Skills: Strong skills in designing graphics for digital platforms, including social media posts, eblasts, and website layouts. Ability to adapt designs for different screen sizes and formats while maintaining brand consistency and optimizing user engagement.
• Illustration Skills (Plus): The ability to create custom illustrations, infographics, and vector graphics that add creativity and visual appeal to marketing materials. This includes conceptualizing designs and translating them into clear, compelling visuals that communicate key ideas.
• Strong Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail is essential, ensuring accuracy in every design element, from typography to image placement and file preparation for production.
• Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and adjust designs based on feedback. Ability to clearly articulate design ideas and concepts to non-design stakeholders.
• Time Management Skills: Effective time management is necessary to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines without compromising on design quality.
• Ability to Meet Tight Deadlines: Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple assignments and meeting deadlines with accuracy and efficiency.

Education and/or Experience Desired:

• 4-Year Degree in Graphic Design or a related field, or equivalent experience in page layout and digital media design.
• 1-2 years of relevant experience in a production design or marketing support role
  (internship experience may also be considered).

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
