We are seeking a skilled and experienced Plastics Custom Sales Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise in plastics engineering with strong sales and customer relationship skills. This role involves working closely with our partners to understand their needs, designing custom plastic solutions, and driving sales growth. This role requires a creative mindset that can keep up with the overall growth aspirations of our company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Consult with our partners to understand their specific requirements for custom plastic products
- Design and propose tailored plastic solutions using technical knowledge and creativity while partnering with the Engineering department
- Collaborate with the engineering and production teams to ensure feasibility of designs
- Prepare and present technical proposals, quotations, and sales presentations
- Negotiate contracts and close sales deals
- Maintain relationships with existing partners and develop new business opportunities
- Stay updated on industry trends, new materials, and manufacturing technologies
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for partners when needed
- Attend trade shows and industry events to promote the company's capabilities
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Plastics Engineering, Polymer Science, or a related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in plastics engineering or sales engineering
- Strong understanding of plastic materials, properties, and manufacturing processes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven track record in technical sales or business development
- Proficiency in CAD software and Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Willingness to travel as needed for client meetings and industry events
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a relevant field
- Experience with rotational molding, thermoforming, or other plastic manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to plastics
- Familiarity with CRM software
