We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Trailer Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for inspecting and performing maintenance and repairs on trailer systems in accordance with Department of Transportation regulations. This position requires hands-on experience with welding, inspections, and troubleshooting to ensure the trailers remain safe and operational.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform inspections and maintenance on trailers to ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Weld and repair aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon materials.
- Inspect and maintain air brake lines, couplers, tanks, valves, shoes, drums, pads, and rotors. Service, adjust, or replace components as necessary.
- Inspect low voltage wiring, couplers, harnesses, lights, batteries, and charging systems. Service, adjust, or replace components as necessary.
- Inspect and maintain trailer body and chassis components, including rails, side-sheets, caps, doors, retainers, fasteners, floors, and plates for damage or defects. Perform metal and wood carpentry tasks to repair or replace damaged areas.
- Perform sheet metal and paint work as needed to finish repairs.
- Inspect, operate, lubricate, and repair minor mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components on lift gates.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in trailer or heavy vehicle repair is required.
- Proficient in welding (aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon).
- Experience with air brake systems, electrical wiring, and hydraulic systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of DOT regulations related to trailer maintenance.
- Must be able to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks.
