The Assistant Controller works under the guidance of and assists the Controller in preparing and reporting financial statements accurately and timely. This position is responsible for Malarkey's growing organization's day-to-day and month-end accounting functions. This position will manage and supervise the accounting team while improving existing procedures and creating new processes aligned to scale with the Company. The position will manage general accounting functions (accounts receivable, accounts payable, etc.), general ledger, financial statement preparation, audits, regulatory compliance, internal controls, and other related financial responsibilities.
A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or another business-related field is required. A minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience in either a large public accounting firm or a sophisticated corporate environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role, is also required. A CPA is preferred, as is experience in the manufacturing industry.
Demonstrated and extensive knowledge of US GAAP/IFRS. Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. Accuracy and attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced MS Excel skills. Experience with Microsoft Dynamix AX/D365, Workday Adaptive, Power BI, and Google Suite preferred.
Must excel in a deadline-oriented environment and demonstrate a high level of competence in organizing and prioritizing multiple work assignments. Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels. Demonstrated ability to work independently within interpretive guidelines, take initiative, and perform effectively in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment; strong verbal and written communication skills; excellent responsive customer service focus and great team player; high level of skills in handling sensitive and confidential situations/information with the demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality
