Job description
As a Laborer you will provide landscape maintenance, landscape irrigation or landscape construction support to a variety of industrial, commercial, and / or public properties. Landscape maintenance, landscape irrigation or landscape construction support includes the safe operation of commercial grade landscaping equipment and upkeep of plant material and other landscaping elements.
Essential Function :
- Performs a variety of tasks involving manual labor in landscape, irrigation or construction projects.
- Performs manual and machinery work in preparing surfaces for paving (Landscape Construction).
- Maintains a clean job site : picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
- Performs materials handling and storage.
- Loads and unloads trucks and hauls and hoists materials.
- Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
- Cut turf using various sized power mowers, trimming, and edging using a gas-powered edger / trimmer, and operating a gas-powered blower.
- Properly and safely prune shrubs and low trees as needed to improve the shape or growth habit or to remove damaged branches.
- Lay sod, plant, mow, trim, dig, rake, prune, mulch, sprinkler installation, and load and unload materials.
- Plant and maintain flower beds.
- Properly and safely operate the edger and line trimmer along sidewalks, flower beds, trees, buildings, fences and other objects.
- Pick up trash and blow leaves and other organic debris on to the turf before mowing. Mulch the leaves and organic matter when mowing.
- Perform weeding by hand or using a garden hoe or hula hoe.
- Maintain a polite, friendly, responsive demeanor with customers
- Brings problems to the attention of the foreman, safety director or HR manager.
- Must uphold company policies, procedures, and company core values at all times
