Front Desk/Ophthalmic Technician

Reports To: The Office Manager and/or Owner of Mallard Eye Care.

Job Overview: Attend to patients on the phone and in person. Coordinate and organize appointments and documentation to facilitate the smooth running of the office and support delivery of quality patient care. A typical day will be fast-paced and include tasks such as greeting patients, checking them in and out, managing patient flow and pre-testing patients including visual-acuity, glaucoma, and retinal photos.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Greeting patients as they enter in the office with a positive vibe.
  • Checking patients in for their appointment.
  • Entering in demographics, medical information, and insurance information into the EHR.
  • Speak to patients regarding their insurance eligibility and benefits in a private and confidential manner according to HIPAA standards.
  • Pre-Testing patients
  • Sterilize equipment before pre-testing patients.
  • Checking patients out after their appointment.
  • Processing payments for services.
  • Answering phones
  • Daily Reminder Calls for next business day appointments
  • Solution Reach daily messages
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Insurance eligibility and benefit verification at least 1 day before appointment.
  • Prepping next business day charts
  • Dispensing trial contact lens
  • Ability to read a prescription (glasses and contact lenses)
  • Ordering trial contacts/putting away contact lens
  • Giving contact lens insertion/removal lessons
  • Performing light clerical duties
  • Keep office fresh and clean at all times
  • Other duties assigned by management

Qualifications:

  • Professional, Friendly, Flexible, Outgoing, Courteous and Composed at all times.
  • High School Diploma at a minimum.
  • Dependale, Strong multi-tasking, Attention to Detail, Honesty, Time Management skills, Interpersonal and Organizational skills required

Must be able to sit and stand at lengths of time. Be able to lift lightweight items.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week

  • Rotating weekends
