LOCATION: Murray Avenue SchoolRESPONSIBILITIES:- Plan, prepare and deliver culturally responsive lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning and engagement - Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modify instructional methods to fit individual student's needs - Communicate with the Instructional Support Team and parents regarding student progress and areas for growth - Utilize relevant technology and instructional materials to support and differentiate instruction- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with colleagues- Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds - Encourage family involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and families - Promote a classroom environment that is safe, welcoming and affirming for all students- Work in a collaborative teaching environment, including co-teaching and interdisciplinary planning - Communicate effectively orally and in writing POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: - In depth knowledge of social emotional learning approaches and experience in implementing SEL to cultivate a classroom that is affirming and welcoming - Thorough knowledge of the NYS elementary learning standards - Knowledge of the RTI process and ability to effectively communicate with the Instructional Support Team and parents regarding student progress and areas for growth - Demonstrated knowledge of NYS Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Frameworks- Ability to analyze data to improve instructional practice and student learning outcomes- Ability to engage in self-reflection with regard to performance and professional growth; actively seek professional learning opportunities - Possession of appropriate New York State Teacher CertificationREPORTS TO: Building Principal Ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply.
