RESPONSIBILITIES:Collaboration and communication with staff on behalf of the students' success Support the students' academic, emotional and behavioral needs as indicated by their IEPs.Provide the teacher with information about students that will assist the teacher in the development of appropriate learning and behavioral experiencesAttend therapies outside of the classroom with the student and support the student in applying learned strategies in the classroom.Knowledge of de-escalation and self-management strategies and implementationImplement targeted interventions and behavior plansAssist with related instructional work as requiredMaintain instructional materials and/or manual and electronic files/records (e.g. lessons, attendance, pencils, paper, data, teaching supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items, providing written reports, or meeting mandated requirementsPerforms general tasks for the purpose of helping the teacher get instructional materials readyREQUIREMENTS: Must be certified as a teaching assistant in NYS.
