Electrical Superintendent

Role Overview

The General Superintendent will oversee and manage the field workforce for electrical construction and maintenance projects. This role ensures efficient operations, compliance with IBEW regulations, and alignment with company objectives. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in the electrical industry, strong leadership skills, and the ability to maintain productive relationships with both field teams and IBEW representatives.

Responsibilities

• Field Workforce Management:
• Select and assign project manpower based on skill sets and project requirements.
• Balance workforce classifications (journeymen, apprentices, etc.) to align with targeted industries and IBEW regulations.
• Manage hiring, onboarding, training, and performance of field employees.
• Coordinate daily and hourly scheduling for field employees across service and project work.
• Address workforce issues proactively through coaching, training, and discipline.
• Collaboration and Planning:
• Work with project management teams to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Forecast manpower and equipment needs based on project backlog.
• Collaborate with the warehouse manager to coordinate tool and equipment logistics.
• IBEW and Safety Compliance:
• Maintain strong relationships with local IBEW management.
• Ensure compliance with IBEW agreements, rules, and regulations.
• Oversee safety programs, including site and equipment inspections, incident management, and monthly safety meetings.
• Operational Oversight:
• Manage company fleet vehicles, tools, and equipment.
• Ensure foremen submit project paperwork on time for accurate payroll and cost accounting.
• Future involvement in NJATC activities and monthly committee meetings.
  

Qualifications

• Experience:
• Minimum of 15 years in the electrical industry, managing IBEW workforces in both field and office settings.
• Proficiency in PDF editors and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Strong understanding of construction workflows, including estimating and project execution.
• Skills:
• High level of organization and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Effective leadership to earn the respect of electricians in all situations.
• Excellent communication and follow-up with internal teams and field staff.
• In-depth knowledge of IBEW agreements and regulations.
