Reporting Structure: US Vice President of Operations

The Engineering and Operations Manager will work onsite, overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing site in Washington. This employee will demonstrate leadership by developing and implementing strategic plans to optimize production efficiency, quality, and cost, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company standards. This employee will act as a pivotal member of our team working effectively to advance the mission and goals of the company.

Job Duties:

Engineering Management:

  • Lead and manage an engineering team in manufacturing flexible circuits in mass production
  • Develop activities of an automated assembly line such as equipment qualification, validation testing
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product design, manufacturing processes and change control management in a tier 1 automotive environment
  • Experience in the overall design, development, and optimization of laser systems
  • manage preventative controls and risk for an assembly line responsible for safety critical characteristics of vehicle components

Manufacturing and Facility Operations:

  • Supervise and coordinate manufacturing process to meet production targets.
  • Meet customer order demand by controlling the build plan and operational activities as a tier 1 automotive supplier
  • Manage a team of engineers and operators to reduce assembly downtime including personnel schedules, PMs, training, and process optimization
  • Use metrics to report to upper management on day to day operations to include P&L, Efficiency, turn over rate, retention, downtime and maintenance , yield and OEE
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles to enhance productivity and reduce waste
  • Collaborate with the production team to ensure ISO quality standards are met.
  • Oversee day-to-day facility management, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment
  • Implement and enforce security protocols and procedures

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, product management, and quality assurance, operations to ensure seamless integration of engineering efforts into the overall product development and manufacturing process
  • Communicate with customer and stakeholders, follow cadence for planning and update meetings as required.
  • Work closely with other departments to align manufacturing and engineering strategies with the company's overall goals and support other business objectives as needed
  • Commission new equipment at our brand-new US Manufacturing facility, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot machine and process issues to minimize downtime and maintain productivity
  • Provide field service, diagnostic, and repair of equipment on the manufacturing line as needed
  • Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and skill development

Process Optimization:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains
  • Streamline operations to reduce costs while maintaining high-quality standards

Resource Allocation:

  • Oversee resource allocation, including personnel, equipment, and facilities, to meet organizational needs
  • Optimize resource utilization to enhance productivity

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage budgets for operational activities
  • Monitor expenses and analyze financial reports to ensure cost-effectiveness

Supply Chain Management:

  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure a reliable supply chain
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to optimize procurement processes

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks through proactive planning and execution

Quality Assurance:

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a focus on quality and continuous improvement
  • ISO 9001 QMS standardization, meeting customer needs and regulatory requirements
  • Must follow all Environmental Health and Safety procedures, thoroughly understanding the impact of position on safety and environment and consequences of failure to follow operational and EHS procedures
  • Providing guidelines for experimental design, personnel safety, and equipment operating procedures
  • Implement and monitor quality control programs to maintain high standards of product/service delivery
  • Address and resolve issues related to product/service quality
  • Other duties as assigned

Education, Experience, Skills:

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or business or 8 years of engineering, manufacturing, and/or other relevant experience
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Proficiency in project management and process improvement methodologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Excellent multi-tasking ability, attention to detail and critical thinking
  • Good judgment, attention to detail, positive attitude, and accountability
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and compliance standards

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • Proficient in speaking, listening, and understanding Mandarin Chinese
  • Experience managing or working with engineers
  • Experience in Computer-Aided Design (CAD), including CAD drafting and design
  • Proficiency in using industry-standard CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar programs to create detailed 2D and 3D drawings for engineering, architectural, or manufacturing purposes
  • Proficient in interpreting and creating technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics
  • Possess good analytical, technical, and project management skills
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within manufacturing and engineering, preferably in the automotive, robotics, or circuit design industries
  • In-depth knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in advanced manufacturing
  • Able to speak another language other than English

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work inside an office and a manufacturing facility, and be frequently exposed to odor, noise, dust, heat, cold, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment may vary from low to loud. Artificial lighting in factory, some natural light in office.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb throughout the day. Use fingers for manual dexterity necessary to complete routine duties on a computer and on machinery in factory. Be able to lift and/or move items over 55 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  Ability to work extra hours necessary to complete priority jobs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $110,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
