What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grant Accountant I/Finance position at Manatee County Clerk of Circuit Court & Comptroller?
The Accounting Division performs general accounting functions for the Board of County Commissioners, including the preparation of the financial statements and reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Government Auditing Standards issued by the Comptroller General of the United States, as applicable. The Grant Accountant I position administrates all County grants. This is a full-time, non-supervisory position that reports to the Manager/Supervisor of BCC Accounting.
- Bachelor degree or higher in specific field of endeavor required
- 4 years of related experience preferred
- Professional certification or advanced degree highly preferred
- Computer literacy which includes, but is not limited to, proficiency in Microsoft Windows suite

- Assists in overseeing the administration of all County grants
- Assists in preparation of Manatee County Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and Schedules of Expenditures of Federal and State Awards
- Participates in the timely completion of Accounting Division monthly, quarterly and annual tasks
- Utilizes current financial accounting software to maintain the general ledger and related subsidiary accounts for assigned functions and funds with considerable guidance with the Accounting Manager/Supervisor or Grant Accountant II, when needed
- Produces monthly financial statements and periodic reviews for assigned funds and fund groups
- Produces annual financial statements for assigned funds
- Prepares journal entries and account reconciliations as needed
- Participates in the timely completion of various individual and group periodic tasks
- Utilizes imaging software to collect data for retention and review
- Participates in Accounting Division cross-training initiatives to acquire and share knowledge and skillsets to support efficient functioning of the Accounting Division
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
