The Court Services division handles the court case work for both Circuit Court and County Court in Manatee County. The County Court has jurisdiction in cases up to $15,000 claim value, as well as misdemeanors, and criminal traffic cases. The Circuit Court has jurisdiction in cases greater than $15,000 claim value, as well as felonies in criminal court. The Court Services division coordinates the selection of jury if a case goes to trial, handles evidence, and works closely with the presiding Judge in the Twelfth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. The Civil Court Clerk I/Court Services position is a full-time, non-supervisory position that reports to the Supervisor of Court Services.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
High School diploma or GEDOne year of recent and relevant experience that demonstrates the ability to apply acute attention to detail in maintenance of detailed data, preferably in an automated systems environmentBasic mathematical aptitude, as well as alpha and numeric filing skills are requiredComputer literacy which includes, but is not limited to, proficiency in Microsoft Windows suiteFamiliar with legal procedures, terminology and the court systemMust be a Deputy Clerk
