The Human Resources Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including, professional and administrative work to include employment classification, compensation, employee relations, benefits, performance management, record keeping, FMLA, Worker's Compensation and enforcing company policies and practices.
Working Conditions
Indoor / office situation; high noise environment while performing certain responsibilities. Lifting equipment up to 25 lbs. alone; up to 75 lbs. with assistance. Sitting for long periods of time, working on computer.
Job Description
Essential Functions :

Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and certifications.
Implements recruitment program requirements including advertisement of positions, publishing recruitment postings, receiving and comparing job applications with established job responsibilities and determining eligibility. Collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
Reviews documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance; compile data and information for reports; compose letters and memoranda; explain policies and procedures.
Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
Types, files, retrieves, and maintains confidential documents including employment requisitions, applicant files and personnel records, adding supportive and supplemental documentation; when received, inputs and retrieves requisitions, applicant, job, and employee information from a computerized system.
Enters, updates, and maintains personnel information in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and applicant tracking system database as required, in a timely manner consistent with County policies and procedures.
Processes new employee hire packages to ensure accuracy for payroll; schedules and arranges orientations sessions to disseminate and familiarize new personnel with required County information, policies, rules, and regulations.
Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and / or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
Assists in the resolution of specific policy- related and procedural problems, inquires, and employee relations issues, including discipline matters.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Ability to accurately enter / or retrieve information from various computer systems and / or programs in a timely manner.
Implements the performance management system by continuously improving the process by establishing essential functions of the jobs, determining how functions are measured, and ensuring performance evaluations are completed in accordance with County policies and procedures.
Provides information and interpretations to all levels of management, employees, employee organizations, other employers, the public, and applicants regarding human resources policies, procedures, practices, and decisions.
Ability to be a self-starter, while working well in a strong team environment.
Performs other related work (including weather or extreme emergency duties) as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Associates degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field.
Minimum of two (2) years' work experience related to human resources, preferably working in a human resources department.
Valid driver's license required, with valid Florida's driver's license within 30 days of hire.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

SHRM-CP or PHR certification desired.
